| Presentation Boards
Presentation Boards are used for a "one time" event or presentation and commonly used for directional and meeting room signage at trade shows, courtroom or litigation graphics and more.
Graphics are usually mounted to a low cost substrate i.e. foam board and may or may not require an over-laminating film depending on the type of printed ink and media.
There are three ways to approach making this product for a variety of similar applications.
Example 1: Mount the graphic to foam board only.
Example 2: Create a decal and then mount the graphic to the board. Mount the graphic to foam board and then apply an over-laminating film.
Example 3: Mount the graphic to foam board, apply an over-laminating film and then laminating the backside of the foam board. If you have a dual heated roller laminator, the over-laminate can be applied to both sides of the foam board simultaneously.
Each step improves the performance of the product and its perceived value.
Note: presentation boards should not be confused with “Rigid Displays” that are generally for longer-term use where a more rigid and durable substrate is used.
How to Produce (Example 2)
Presentation Boards with this approach require a two pass process through a roller laminator, using an over-laminating film, a mounting adhesive and a substrate i.e. foam board.
Step 1 - decaling the image
- Load your over-laminating film on the top supply shaft and adhesive on the bottom supply shaft of your laminator.
- Check your recommended machine settings and film webbing.
- Slowly insert the image into the laminator
Step 2 - Mounting
- Trim your image to match the size of your foam board.
- Place your image face down onto the foam board.
- Peel back and fold over approximately 1-2” of your release liner along the top of the image.
- Turn your image back over so it is face up and align the leading edge to the foam board and tack the exposed adhesive to the board. Tack the mid point of the image first, moving out to the edges.
- Set the nip on your laminator to match the thickness of your board.
- Insert the leading edge you tacked down into the nip of the laminator.
- Lay your decal up and over the top roller.
- Select a comfortable speed (approx 2-3 feet/minute) on your laminator and depress the foot pedal to advance the foam board and decal into the machine while removing the release liner.
- Trim your board if required.

Application Considerations
Adhesion Compatibility - Ink chemistry varies significantly according to different print technologies and can affect compatibility of the adhesive from the laminating film to the surface of the printed media. We would advise that you take a small sample and do an adhesion test to make sure you have good adhesion between the printed surface and adhesive before producing your product.
